What is the Danfoss iC7-Automation? The Danfoss iC7-Automation is a variable frequency drive (VFD) designed for demanding industrial motor-control and automation applications. Its compact, modular platform combines high-performance motor control, flexible communications, functional safety options and straightforward commissioning, helping reduce panel space, engineering time and lifecycle costs.

Works with the motor you already have
The iC7 connects to induction motors (IM), permanent magnet motors (PM), or high-efficiency synchronous reluctance motors (SynRM) and adapts automatically — so you're not locked into a specific motor technology to get the best performance out of the drive.
What communications and safety features does the iC7-Automation support?
- Dual Ethernet ports with selectable, license-activated protocols (PROFINET RT, PROFIsafe, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, OPC UA) for flexible integration into existing plant networks
- Onboard hardware crypto chip for secure external communication over fieldbus or cloud — among the most secure Industrial IoT-ready drives available
- Safe Torque Off (STO), SIL 3 / PL e as standard, simplifying machine safety certification
- Encrypted microSD card storage for offline recording and analysis of operational data
- Hot-swappable units and integrated sensors that keep both commissioning and ongoing maintenance efficient
What power range is available?
Available from 0.37 kW up to 710 kW as air-cooled frequency converters (with system modules and enclosed drive options extending the range further), covering everything from a single pump or fan through to complex, high-power conveyor and process applications — all on a modular control platform you can expand as requirements grow.
